Adversity often creates an opportunity for new members to step up and shine. With Junior Center Grace Cumming out, the Lady Riders rallied behind Junior Sanaa Smith. Sanaa led the Riders with 17 points, four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. The Riders continued to show grit and toughness throughout the game to find a way to win on the road at Marshalltown Tuesday night.
“We are playing a larger bench now, many girls are getting good experience on the floor. We have to learn from each game and improve. We have been pleasantly surprised by some fresh faces while heavily relying on our veteran players. Sanaa did a great job of controlling the game and Alesha (Henderson) contributed significantly beyond the stat line. Her hustle and effort pushed us over the edge tonight,” said Schoneberg. The Lady Riders will head back into action with a home game against cross town rival Hoover Friday night.
