The Riders came into the game having lost in extra time to Fort Dodge last year and wanted revenge. Fort Dodge continued their tactics from the previous year of sending the ball longer to utilize their athletic forwards. Roosevelt dealt with this style of play well by dropping off and taking away the space available to play into. Roosevelt dominated the possession and again built through the thirds with quality. The final ball still haunted them. Libby Israel done a great job of being alert and off of her line to collect any through balls that had been hit. Clara Colvig back in the team and performed really well despite not having played in a while. Grace Robinson impressed with intelligent movement and link up play. Roosevelt looked to be in control of the game but held onto to the ball for too long in the middle third.
Encouraged to play forward faster in the second half finally the riders began to create goal scoring chances and looked dangerous. Anna Gilbreath and Anyesi Kamanda were found time and time again heading into the box but the final efforts and decisions were not good enough. Into over time for the second game in a row for the Riders and they narrowly escaped with a shot firing off of the post. After the two minute break, the Riders had had enough and decided to take what they deserved. A spell of 3 attacks from Anna Gilbreath ended with the sophomore lifting the ball over the goal keeper from just inside the box. Scoring the teams second goal of the year and winning the game.
